PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2000-2006 Visual Artist
I have been practicing the art of painting for 17 years. During the past five years I have dedicated myself to being a full time painter. Primarily working with acrylics on stretched canvas. I maintain a studio in Pioneer Square, in downtown Seattle and participate in solo and group exhibitions. I also have taught workshops, organized and curated exhibits, while maintaining all aspects of a small business. I am a member and past board vice president of Metropolis the Gallery- an artists' collective in Bremerton WA. In the Fall of 2005 I completed the Artist Trust EDGE program, a professional development program for artists. In the spring of 2006 I moved to a new studio and began, with Marcia Riwney and Grego Rachko to curate and maintain a gallery space. Alchemy Gallery features monthly exhibit of solo and group shows.
1996-99 Founding Member- WAIL Collective
A project dedicated to creating a place where arts and agriculture co-existed. I participated in planning and implementing a series of programs ranging from “Spectacle from Scratch”–a nine day circus retreat, to “A Natural Building Symposium”–a week long alternative building camp. We also conducted a series of workshops on “Art and Social Change”. As a collective, we managed the day-to-day running of a 40 acre land trust, made upgrades to the property, oversaw a small organic farm project, and planned and coordinated fundraising, outreach to the community and other events.
1992-94 Teacher – Spruce Street School
Team taught the after-school arts-based program at this private school, serving K-5. Developing themes and activities that tied into their classroom curriculum. Including printmaking, painting and mural projects, bookmaking, ceramics and cooking.
1993-95 Co-Owner – House
I was a part owner of this arts and crafts consignment shop on Capitol Hill in Seattle. Involved in all aspects of running a small business, including seeking new artists for display and sale and coordinating quarterly shows.
1990-95 Co-Director - Heart to Art
A community arts organization dedicated to raising awareness, money and creativity in response to HIV and AIDS. I ran the office and workshop space, coordinated three gallery locations, planned major events and art projects throughout the Seattle area. Here I gained experience in public relations, community outreach, grant writing and fundraising.
