I am a painter, originally from Michigan, currently living and working in Seattle. I have been an active artist for the past fifteen years, and a full time painter for the past four. Through my work I seek to express the multiple dimensions of our experience here. What I see, as well as that which is not physical. Combining the abstract, the symbolic and the figurative, I consider most of my paintings to be narrative landscapes - landscapes which I coax from a base of abstraction, working with the paint and the painting to reveal a story within. Painting, for me, is not only a visual experience, but one that glides through many senses. Through my paintings I seek to communicate the poetic, the sense of moving from touch to a scent, or sound to taste, and the memory within that. Exploring how to take a two-dimensional surface and allowing it to express volume and space.
